Dr. Chris Brook

Who Am I?

A scientist with a legal background, who is concerned about the way that science is mis-understood and mis-used in our criminal justice system.

I am an astrophysicist. I work at Universidad de La Laguna and at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias in Spain. Here is a summary of my scientific research.

Qualificiations: I have law, commerce and science degrees from the University of Melbourne and a doctorate in Astrophysics from Swinburne University.

I live and work in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, which houses some of the worlds largest telescopes, including the worlds largest optical telescope. The  Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias is one of Spain's premier science institutes.

"I am interested in how the legal system could learn from science in terms of how to analyse evidence. I believe that scientific methods and knowledge should be used for analysis of all evidence in all criminal cases".
